Making a start on 1 Year of Stitches.............

Still outlining the oval shapes with trellis stitch.

What to do once I've outlined all the ovals, that's when the fun should start. Should I do it like this one?

or maybe this one?

or this one?

or maybe this one?

or something completely different? I've got a bit of time to decide, there's still a few days work outlining those oval shapes.

A New Year, a new challenge.

I have signed up for 1 Year in Stitches. You can find out about it here. It's a perfect excuse to resurrect a UFO that's been languishing for a couple of years. This one:

It's quite a big piece of hand dyed cotton fabric that I've had for a long while. The plan is to stitch the oval shapes in trellis stitch on a foundation of buttonhole, and then the rest will be a free-for-all.

I have a bit more time for stitching now so perhaps this piece will finally get finished!

Cretan, fly and a few more!

I love fabric and I hate to waste it, so every so often I go through my box of "bits" and make up a few of these little things ready for embellishing. These are made from offcuts left over from doll making. Sometimes I will just pick a couple out, take myself of into a corner and sit and stitch quietly, embroidering with stranded cotton, in a world of my own. For me, it's as good as meditation or a sound bath.

Meanwhile...........................

Until I finish my "special TAST2014 cloth", I can at least put up a few stitches that I've recently used, here, on my latest piece of work.

These little figures "wear" a selection of the TAST stitches so far.

FLY stitch used to decorate a row of CRETAN.

HERRINGBONE, laced.

FEATHER, laced DOUBLE HERRINGBONE, double CRETAN.
